Booking problems can arise due to a number of factors - some of which are unrelated to SpeedFerries’ booking system, e.g. certain settings on your computer or irregularities in your local network. Please go through the following check list before contacting SpeedFerries:
•A booking problem may be caused by temporary irregularities in your local communication network or your hardware. To test whether this is the case or not, it is a good idea to check if you are able to enter other websites on your computer. If you are having problems with the Internet in general, please try restarting your computer or contact your Internet supplier.
If you encountered difficulties during an earlier visit to our website it is a good idea to click on the “Refresh” button in the top bar of the browser menu.
• You might encounter problems when trying to make a booking if you are using an Apple computer. However, our booking system does communicates with the most recent versions of Apple’s operating system (e.g. OS 10.2) and Mac compatible browsers (Netscape 7.2 or Safari 1.2). Should you have older version of these browsers, please be aware that you can update Netscape on Netscape’s website and Safari 1.2 at Apple’s website.
• In order to secure safe data transmission SpeedFerries’ booking system like all other online payment systems will send a small piece of software to your computer before the payment procedure is initiated. A high privacy/security level on your computer will not allow this to happen and will therefore block further activity. In this case lowering the security level while booking will usually solve the problem. Click on “Tools” on the top of the page and then select “Internet settings/setup” and then click on “security”. Here you will be able to modify your security level.
• If the problems occur during payment, this could be caused by the type of card you are using. Please be advised that we are unable to accept Switch/Maestro. We only accept Visa debit, Visa credit and MasterCard. Please also be aware that certain card issuers put a 30 days spending maximum on the card, which might block the transaction regardless of whether there are sufficient funds in your account. Moreover, some banks/issuers do not allow the card to be used for online payments.
• Finally, if our website is extremely busy the payment procedure might be affected. If this is the case please try again later.
Should you continue to experience problems while trying to book or change a ticket after checking the above mentioned issues, please do not hesitate to contact our call centre at 0871 222 7456 from within the UK and +44 870 22 00 570 from outside the UK.
