1. When will I receive my tickets?

SpeedFerries operates a ticketless travel system, therefore when you make your reservation you will be asked to either print off your booking confirmation or make a note of the booking reference. Alternatively, if you make a phone reservation, you will be asked to make a note of your booking reference number. On the day of travel you will be asked to quote your booking reference at the check-in booth.

2. How do I amend my booking?

Travel dates/times for BASIC tickets are non-amendable. FLEX & PREMIER tickets/vouchers can be changed via SpeedFerries online amendment service or the Call Centre. Whereas changes made via the online service are generally free of charge, a fee applies if the service is provided by the Call Centre - unless this concerns an adjustment of the passenger list. Please note that some offers booked may have limited flexibility and/or attract an amendment fee. For further information please see our terms and conditions.

3. How do I cancel my booking?

Bookings are for a specific date and once confirmed cannot be cancelled and consequently no refunds will be made. However you may be able to 'park' or amended your ticket for future use, this depends on what type of ticket you have purchased and a fee may apply. Our Call Centre team can advise you of your options.

4. Can I reserve more than one vehicle space per booking?

Every vehicle requires a separate booking, this also applies to motorcycles and bicycles.

5. I'm not certain of the registration of the vehicle I will be travelling in, can I still book online?

Yes you can; simply enter the vehicle registration as 'TBA' and we will clarify the registration at the port when you check in. With FLEX & PREMIER tickets you can do this online free of charge, however BASIC tickets will incur a charge for this service.

6. I am unable to travel due to illness/bereavement, Can I refund my ticket?

Bookings are for a specific date and once confirmed cannot be cancelled and consequently no refunds will be made. If you require a letter for insurance purposes please contact customerservice@speedferries.com

7. Is it possible to transfer my ticket to another person?

It is NOT possible, under any circumstances, to amend both the lead passenger name and the vehicle.

8. Can I just turn up at the port and buy my ticket?

FLEX & PREMIER Tickets can be purchased at the check-in (subject to availability). Prices quoted over the telephone and the internet may not be valid for sale at the check-in.

9. How long before departure time should I check-in?

Check-in must take place in accordance to the booking conditions of your ticket type:

  • BASIC tickets – 45 minutes
  • FLEX tickets – 30 minutes
  • PREMIER tickets – 30 minutes
  • Off-Peak Voucher – 45 minutes
  • FLEX Voucher – 30 minutes

Passengers who require special assistance, for example with disabilities, should check in 1 hour prior to departure. Foot passengers, bicycles and motorcycles should check in 45 minutes prior to departure.

10. What is the procedure for travelling with pets?

SpeedFerries are pleased to accept pets. Pets are charged at £15 per animal, registered guide dogs travel free. Please note all animals (with the exception of registered guide dogs) must remain in the vehicle during the crossing and are subject to the necessary documentation, vaccinations etc. For further information on the Pets Travel Scheme please consult www.defra.gov.uk. Please note that SpeedFerries do not currently carry pets destined for quarantine.

11. Can I take a bicycle on board SpeedOne?

SpeedFerries now carry bicycles. Please note that each bicycle requires a separate booking and only standard bicycles may be booked. For family and small group bookings please contact our Call Centre on 0871 222 7456 to check availability before booking online as capacity for bicycles is restricted.

12. How do I make arrangements for disabled members in my party?

SpeedFerries welcomes disabled passengers on our service and make every practicable effort to make the journey as easy as possible for you if you have a disability affecting your mobility or other special needs. However we have only limited facilities for wheelchair users so we need to know in advance to make appropriate arrangements. Please telephone us prior to your date of travel to advise us if you require assistance.

Please be aware that the Call Centre staff may ask that you check-in up to one hour before your scheduled departure to allow the loading staff to place your vehicle close to the wheelchair access. As facilities for wheelchair users are limited, it is a good idea to make a reservation well in advance of planned travel. Passengers with other disabilities should contact the Call Centre if they have special requirements or might need special assistance in an emergency situation.

13. Does it matter if I have a roof box or bicycles attached to my vehicle?

It is not a problem having a roof box or bicycles attached to your vehicle; however, we do request that your vehicle is booked under the correct category i.e. A High or Large vehicle.

14. How long is the crossing to Dover/Boulogne?

SpeedOne, our fast ferry, takes just 50 minutes to cross the Channel.

15. Do I need a passport to travel?

All passengers including children and infants must posses valid travel documentation. For citizens of the European Union and certain other European states this means a valid, current passport which must be valid for the intended duration of your trip. Non-EEA citizens may have to obtain additional travel documents such as visas etc. and/or complete immigration forms at the port of entry or departure. It is the passenger’s own responsibility to be acquainted with the relevant rules and regulations in force at the time of travel. SpeedFerries accepts no liability in relation to passengers who are prevented from travelling on their booked sailings due to delays arising from the inadequacy of travel documents and any such event will count as a no-show.

16. Is travel insurance required?

SpeedFerries strongly recommend travel insurance for all passengers. Travel insurance may be purchased during the online booking process. This can also be added after making your booking via our website.

We also recommend that all passengers travelling to France are in possession of an E111 health form available from your local post office.

17. Are there any legal requirements needed for my car to drive in France?

Vehicles travelling in France are legally required to have certain breakdown and emergency equipment stored in the vehicle. Required items are available at the Engine Bay shop located at the Hoverport terminal.

Please note that the following chart should be used as a guideline only and that the driver of any vehicle is responsible to insure that all legal requirements are met when driving abroad.

18. Do you take broken down vehicles onboard?

All vehicles must be functional. SpeedFerries are unable to accept any vehicles that are not able to operate under their own power.

19. Can I change my money to Euros onboard?

SpeedFerries is pleased to announce that its new currency exchange facility onboard SpeedOne is now fully operational. 20. Can I smoke onboard?

In the interests of passenger comfort, all public areas on SpeedOne are non smoking. However it is possible to smoke on the outside deck.

21. Can I purchase duty free goods onboard?

Duty free shopping was abolished within the European Union in 1999. However, alcohol, tobacco and perfume purchased in our bar and shop are at French duty paid prices saving up to 40% on UK high street prices.

22. Do you accept vehicles that run on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)

LPG vehicles are accepted provided they are factory fitted or equivalent. Certificate documentation must be produced at the point of check-in.

23. Is there any surcharge on bookings made by phone?

Please note that bookings made by phone will be subject to £10/15€ surcharge.

24. I have a BASIC ticket I wish to amend

A BASIC Ticket is valid for the booked travel dates and times only. A BASIC Ticket is non-amendable and non-transferable under any circumstances.

25. I have been unable to use my booking, can this be extended?

All SpeedFerries tickets have an expiry date. Tickets will automatically become void and will no longer be valid for travel past this date. Our Call Centre staff can advise you of your options.

26. Which credit/debit cards do you accept for bookings?

We accept payment via Visa debit, Visa credit, MasterCard and American Express. We are currently unable to accept Switch/Maestro.

27. Can I upgrade my FLEX/BASIC ticket to PREMIER class?

PREMIER upgrades are available for all ticket products at check-in or onboard at a cost of £5 per passenger (subject to availability). Upgrades cannot be purchased in advance via the call centre.
